About Shamisen

三味線は江戸時代に歌舞伎や文楽などで演奏されるようになり、日本の伝統芸能を支える楽器のひとつとなっています。三味線音楽のジャンルは様々あります。三味線は大きさによって、太棹・中棹・細棹の種類があり、ジャンルによって三味線が決まります。
Shamisen is one of the traditional Japanese music instruments. It has been used in traditional Japanese performing arts such as Kabuki or Bunraku. The shamisen can be used various music genres.There are roughly three types of Shamisen,classfied according to size : Hosozao(the thinnest type of shamisen), Chuzao(the middle-sized shamisen), Futozao (the "broad-neck" shamisen).

兵庫県宍粟市出身。大阪市在住。大学入学と同時に落語研究会に所属し、寄席三味線・長唄を桑原ふみ子師・杵屋柳翁師に師事する。その後今藤佐知郎師に師事し、平成16年四世今藤長十郎家元より名取を許される。平成16年より愛媛県松山市にて『寄席囃子と長唄と落語を楽しむ会』を5年ごとに開催する。彦根では『いい音ひこ音(iine/hikone)』と題して演奏活動などを行う。また、京都造形芸術大学大学院修了後、学友と『和伝研究会』を立ち上げ、和の伝統文化を広める活動を企画・運営している。今藤流師範。長唄協会会員。
Sachiho Imafuji was born in Shiso, Hyogo prefecture, but currently lives in Osaka. When she entered university, she joined the Rakugo Association and started studying playing the Shamisen for Yose theatre under the guidance of master Fumiko Kuwahara(Ryuoh Kineya). She later took lessons in Nagauta with master Sachio Imafuji, and in 2004 was awarded her performer name (Sachiho Imafuji) from Iemoto(Grand Master) Chojyuro Imafuji Ⅳ. Since 2004, every five years, she has been organizing the event “Let’s enjoy Yose-bayashi, Nagauta and Rakugo” in the city of Matsuyama, Ehime prefecture. She also contributes regularly to the musical performance “Iine/Hikone” held in Hikone. After graduating from the master program at the Kyoto University of the Arts, she founded, together with several university friends, the “Waden Research Association”, which promotes and helps to spread Japanese traditional culture. She is also an instructor in the Imafuji School and a member of the Nagauta Association.

お稽古場 Lessons

お稽古は基本マンツーマンで1回45分としております。
撥の持ち方から丁寧にお稽古していきます。
三味線はお稽古場に用意しています。
現在、下記の場所にてお稽古しています。
お稽古日や時間などご相談ください。
体験稽古は随時受付ております。

For those who are interested, the general format of the lessons is one-on-one and the duration is 45 minutes. A shamisen is provided for you and you can start from the basics such as learning how to hold the bachi (plectrum) correctly. Currently, lessons are available at the three locations below: Osaka, Matsuyama, Hikone. The date and time can be arranged upon consultation. A free demo lesson is provided.
